Job Description
Teach For Nigeria seeks an Accountant who brings a combination of entrepreneurial spirit, intellectual curiosity, strategic thinking, passion for social change, focus on tangible results, a collaborative “can do” attitude and a desire for continuous improvement. We are looking for a colleague who is up for the challenge to launch Teach For Nigeria, to support strong Young leaders channeling their collective efforts to expand educational opportunity for all children in Nigeria and give an entire generation of Nigerians the key to unlock its full potential. The Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial, accounting, administrative & personnel services and assist with program development; co-ordination of capacity resource development.

General ledger management and reconciliation
Grant/donor management and reporting
Accounting systems development and management
Financial reporting and cash flow management
Treasury and management reporting

Excellent financial and accounting skills
Excellent communicator who can clearly articulate our vision, goals and work, and address effectively the barriers and motivations of different individuals.
Experience of liaising with auditors, banks and other financial institutes.
Experience of payroll administration including responding to Inland Revenue queries.
Experience of producing financial reports, budgets and information for funders.
Experience of monitoring complex budgets.

Knowledge of computerized accounting programs
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, including fund accounting
An understanding of relevant financial legislation, policies and procedures
Strategic and critical thinking skills so as to conceptualize multiple approaches to solving a problem and drawing out a clear road-map with roles and responsibilities
Relationship-building and influencing skills so as to leverage people and relationships to outcomes
Communication skills so as to deliver compelling messages through oral and written medium to diverse stakeholders

Education and Experience
A relevant first degree
Minimum of six (6) years relevant work experience
Relevant professional accounting qualifications
4-7 years of relevant work experience
Previous experience of accounting software and operating in an automated environment
Proven numeracy and data analysis skills
Experience in NGO/fund accounting environment would be an advantage
